My Photos And Their Stories
Willa Cather’s grave
Even without having read much of Willa Cather's work, I felt honored to stand at her resting place contemplating her creative spirit . It was October and the long afternoon leaf shadows swayed as if brushing the tombstone.
Sunglasses had just fallen from the woman's face whose shadow crosses the stone . The brightness and color of the glasses annoyed me when I first saw this color slide. It was many years later when the photo again looked fresh to me that I realized why I let them be part of the frame. Besides the worn stone, the blue sky reflection with clouds passing by was yet another indicator of the inescapable passing of time.
