Toyssimi - A vintage toy fair in Rome
My friend Pierre and his friends Amanda and Massimo invited me to visit the toy fair known as Toyssimi during my first week in Rome in October, 2022. Inside the hanger-like structure in the city's San Paolo district were dozens of vendors selling everything from Barbie dolls to Chucky toys, action figures, rubber Donald Ducks. miniature cars, trains, games and yesteryear playthings. This collection of twenty photos is just a small sampling of the wares up for offer that day.
I've already published a few dozen photos from my time in Rome, but have held back others while looking for a better way to organize and present them. I walked the city almost every day with my camera in hand and returned home after three months with what seemed like (and still does) an insurmountable editing and processing job —and I'm not prone to photograph in in rapid-fire sequences. This spectacular city has so much to offer that I could return there tomorrow and find newness and joy in the same places as well as in all the many others I've yet to discover.
Other Rome slideshows you can find here as of this date are of the flea market: Porta Portese and also in two collections of street photos: Roman Street Photos and L'Occhio del Tempo (the Eye of Time). I finally decided that aside from specific events, the most practical way to present the photos is by following my Roman excursions as they unfolded.

That had to be awesome to experience. I would love to have been there. Definitely would have purchased a piece of luggage to bring some old toys home. Also, often wonder why men find dolls creepy. My grandsons and nephew feel the same. Hope you get a chance to return to Rome. ❤️

Me too! RE: Creepy dolls - maybe from that Twilight Zone episode that featured 'Talking Tina', and also from 'Chucky'.
